[Test Server: Korea] Kai has Entered the Fray!

Kai is an archer who combats his enemies from afar.
He can change the form of his bow to change his combat style, providing a thrilling yet delicate gameplay.

Maintaining distance is important to Kai.
He can move around quickly using a cable to either maintain distance or to escape from danger.

He can also perform a devastating melee attack against enemies that are exposed.
After climbing atop of the gigantic enemy, even from afar, he strikes at their weak point causing a great deal of damage.
Carefully aimed shots will deal more damage than normal shots and can also maim targets to interfere with their movement.

When dealing with multiple enemies, he can use a skill to destroy them all at once or use another skill that pulls two targets together. This can be used to link two enemies or one and a object to deal massive damage.



One thing to note ATM is that Kai was deliberately made OP on the test server for testing purposes. [Shooting Amaranth Kicks at throwing spear range isn't funny]

Now lets look into some skills and attributes
[Skill commands will be explained under mouse control]


Bow Morphing



Kai has the ability to use two types of bows in battle and can change between the two freely using 'Bow Morphing' by pressing the Tab key



Each type of bow uses different kind of attacks except for the 5 active skills that will be explained later.


Short Bow

Left click - Main attack, shoots arrows at a quick speed that has auto-aim. Can be fired while moving. Also gains a small amount of SP per hit.

If you hold on to left click Kai will charge and, when left click is released, will use multi-shot


Uses a small amount of SP. Useful for keeping trash mobs at bay.


Right click - Thrust kick, a powerful kick used for a moderate amount of SP


This is practically Kai's only answer to handling multiple mobs that are on him.

When right click is used while running or after using Thrust kick or evasion, Kai will use Spin Kick



While this takes a slightly lower amount of SP than Thrust kick, the hit radius is tilted to his left and the damage isn't that great. But it does provide cool visuals.


Long Bow

Left click - Main attack, shoots arrows at a slow speed and Kai has to stand still to reload. This shot does not have auto aim thus the player has to aim by holding on to left click. While Kai can't move while shooting he still can move while aiming. When left click is held on to long enough, a small spark will flash on the tip of the arrow and seems to do more damage in this state.
The range for Long Bow shot is longer than short bow but is harder to aim at close range. The Long Bow shot also has better better damage and SP gain.
I'm still not sure of this and will change this when it's confirmed, but Long Bow shots can sometimes pierce through enemies and this seems to only happen when the shot is 'charged'

Right click - Hold on to right click to charge up Magnum Shot at the cost of a good amount of SP



Can be charged in three stages where Kai changed pose accordingly. The range is very long and has a slight AoE radius that is increased with each charge [which also increases damage of course]
Magnum shot is also aimed like Long bow shots but in a throwing weapon view.


Active Skills

You might have noticed that all skills except for Kai's normal shots cost SP. Yet he also has an arsenal of active skills that also consume SP



Active skills can be used with both Short and Long Bows.
To use active skills, you can press the Q button to pop up the active skill list. Once the list is up, your number keys will be used to use any of the 5 active skills. To use your expendable items press Q again to close the skill list[kinda like Evie's alchemy]


Bending Shot

Another aiming skill that is aimed like Magnum Shot. This skill is basically an arrow version of a generic chain lightning skill. But the bounce range is kinda short ATM so it feels more like a small radius AoE with a limited number of targets.
Number of targets are increased from rank C.
A useful skill for handling trash mobs



Arrow Storm
Once used, Kai will go into an aiming mode similar to aiming a catapult. Once he throws the gadget, an shower of arrow will rain onto the indicated radius.
I don't know if this is a intended penalty or not but if the gadget hits a wall or ceiling before releasing the arrows, the skill will fail.
VERY useful for handling trash mobs and has good damage too so, with a plentiful amount of SP, could be utilized in boss battles as well.



Wire Evasion
Not only does Kai has his incredibly quick, long ranged, stamina efficient evasion with invincibility frames, but he also has a way to practically 'teleport' to a designated location.
Once the skill is used, Kai will place a pin at the location he's standing. By quickly pressing the space key twice he will use his wire to instantly pull himself to the location of the pin.
Each skill rank will increase the range he can get away from the pin without it being pulled out.



Dual Link
With this skill Kai will go into a aiming mode as if aiming a grappling hook. Can be shot with left click or right click. Two shots will be fired for one of the desired effect

Up to C rank - can chain a target monster to any surface. also works on bossed but the duration is greatly reduced with huge bosses
Up to B rank - can chain a target monster and an object to deal damage. It is said that this can make a boss flinch
A rank - can chain a target monster and a boss to deal damage.



Multi Sniping
Another aiming skill. By holding on to left click, you can drag your mouse around to target multiple enemies [target number increased with skill rank] and releasing left click will have Kai shoot powerful shots at the designated targets. Can be used to target multiple areas on huge bosses, thus shooting multiple rounds on a single target.


And more
Kai also has some other skills unique to him.

First is his Bow mastery [which I didn't even bother to take a SS of]
Your general weapon mastery

But more suited to his style, there's

HeadShot
When any of your aiming skill lands on the target's head, the target will recieve additional damage and stun rate


Sudden Flinch
When using skills with aiming mechanisms, Kai has a chance to proc Sudden Flinch.
Sudden Flinch will allow Kai to see weak points on bosses and a hit on the weak point will deal, as the description says, big damage and cause the boss to flinch



Mounting

When a hugs boss is knocked down, Kai can perform Mounting like how Karok used boss grabs on middle or small sized bosses.
This move can only be used on massive bosses that Kai can mount atop on. [ex : Kobold Chieftain, while being a target for Karok's wrestling, is not a target for Mounting]


Miscellaneous

-His battle respiration seems to be bugged causing stam too regen at a crazy fast rate even at low ranks making his shortbow shot artificially appealing.
-His LongBow shot aiming constantly bugs and using Bow Morphing while shooting will cause his motion to freeze at a awkward stance for a moment.
