All About Dragons
By now, many players have had a chance to see the short teaser video announcing the arrival of Dragon pets in Mabinogi. Read on to see why having a loyal dragon amongst your faithful pets is such a huge benefit!
Dragons are the paramount pets of Mabinogi. While the Thunder Dragon is noticeably stronger than the Fire Dragon in most areas, both have abilities and features that make them superior to any pet released in Mabinogi. Dragon pets are flying mounts. They have a modest movement speed on the ground and are superior flying pets. While the Thunder Dragon is significantly faster than the Fire Dragon when flying, both have access to an exclusive aerial Boost ability, similar to the boost ability shared by Fire Horses, only the dragon Boost works in the air! This makes dragons the FASTEST flying pets in Mabinogi!
Both the Thunder and Fire Dragon have a full set of Dragon Rider Armor in their inventory, available to be worn by their owners. Armor from a Fire Dragon will come in a red metallic color. Armor from a Thunder Dragon will come in a steel blue metallic color. As you remove your Dragon Rider Armor from the Thunder Dragon's inventory, you'll notice the gigantic size of the available inventory space: 6x10! The Fire Dragon has a much more modest inventory size at 5x8.
A human male dons the Thunder Dragon Armor set.
A female giant shows off the armor received from a Fire Dragon.
Similar to the Crystal Deer and Fire Horse pets released earlier in the year, Dragons come to the sides of their owners in a terrifying display of power. A shockwave of fire or lightning, depending on the dragon summoned, will stun nearby enemies. Use this to your advantage in battle, or show off in town and have your dragon announce its arrival to your friends with a triumphant roar.
Taking a cue from the Tiger pets, mounted combat from the back of your dragon friend is also possible. With a few more combat options available to them, dragons take mounted combat to the next level!
About a year or two ago, transforming pets were released. Including the Persian, Hamster, and Black Wolf. These pets, when transformed, are able to use the powerful Windmill ability, making them the first and only pets able to do so. However, these pets could only get their windmill up to Rank A. With the arrival of dragons, this is no longer the case! A fully-grown Thunder Dragon and Fire Dragon will have access to Windmill Rank 6! On top of that, dragons don't use the humanoid convention of Windmilling opponents by flailing arms and weapons, no. Dragons slam into the ground, knocking down all around them! What power! What strength!
Finally, we come to the crowning ability and feature that makes the dragon to be the best pet to come to Mabinogi: the breath attack. Besides, what kind of dragon is it if it can't breathe a little fire, right? Breath attacks come in two flavors, one for each dragon. Fire Breath belongs to the Fire Dragon and Thunder Breath belongs to the Thunder Dragon. At Rank 1, each breath skill inflicts 1600 to 2400 fire or lightning damage (depending on the dragon) to all enemies around the target.
A Thunder Dragon unleashes a torrent of electricity!
This Fire Dragon launches a ball of fire at unsuspecting Shadow Warriors!
Yeah. That'll do it.
Dragon pets are also color-selectable. Choose a color to match one of your favorite outfits!
Fire Dragon color selections.
Thunder Dragon color selections.
That does it for our extended Dragon preview. Both the Fire and Thunder Dragon will go on sale on June 22nd, and will be on sale for a LIMITED TIME, so act fast!
