The following was posted by our guilds founder Asi on May 10, 2008.

Origin of the name Celion

A long time ago, most
likely sometime in March, during NA Mabinogi's Open Beta, I, along with
four other people (who are either in other guilds or not playing right
now), became interested in forming a guild, and I, who was appointed
"guildmaster" of the future guild, was appointed with the task of
coming up with a guild name.

Shortly beforehand, I had, out of
curiosity, typed the word Mabinogi in the Google search engine and
learned that the real-life Mabinogion was a Welsh legend, and that the
word "Mabinogi" was a Welsh word (although many nouns in the game
happen to be Irish rather than Welsh... yes, Nexon, we know), and,
trying to keep in sync with the name, I decided to use a Welsh word as
the name of the guild.
I did a little bit of researching, and
stumbled upon an online Welsh dictionary. After a bit of thinking, I
decided to use the Welsh word for paradise, for personal reasons and
with the intention for this guild to be a small "paradise" for people
within the Mabi community.

But the word I found, "gwynfa"
(pronounced something like goo'nfa), was very english-unfriendly.
Although It could have been possible to teach people how to pronounce
it, it would have been a handful to teach everybody, and also because
of the very likely possibility that most people would be unaware of the
correct pronunciation no matter how much effort the guild put in, I
decided to go for a different name. So I looked up heaven - and two of
the words I got, nef and nen, were not as bad, but also very
english-unfriendly. However, the third, Celi (with a hard C, so like
Keli.. but See-lion is close enough) was english friendly, and, to my
ears, carried a nice tone. The word also means god, and since there
was, most likely, going to be more than one person in the guild, I took
the plural - Celion. That's how the name Celion, meaning gods or
heavens, came about.

Celion's Aims, Goals, and Expectations

Celion,
upon its conception, was a guild dreamed up by five friends in the Open
Beta. The goal was to become a guild of elites - to become the most
resourceful, skilled, and respected guild in the game - and, most
importantly, to become a group of closely-knit friends. The guild, to
this date, adheres to the original goals.

The guild members are
expected to be resourceful. The guild members are expected to be able
to find out information regarding the game by themselves, or, if
another member is unable to do so, the member is expected to be able to
answer the others questions. In other words, the guild, as a group, is
expected to be resourceful.

The guild members are expected to be
skillful. This does not mean that the guild member, from the beginning,
must be able to do everything without mistake, and achieve astonishing
feats. This means that the guild member should be able to learn and
adapt, and become skillful. It is alright to be new to the game, as long as you have the potential.

The
guild members should be respected by fellow players in the game and
fellow guild members - and must show respect and consideration to
others. Many factors come into earning respect, as most of us know, and
may not be the easiest thing to do. However, disrespect toward a certain
person, to a certain respect, mirrors the characters of the person
disrespected and the person showing disrepect. Guild members are
expected to be able to avoid or handle such situations, and earn others' respect.

And, above
all, Celion is a group of close friends, and aims to be so. If nothing
else, all members are expected to be one anothers friend, and a friend
when even in need. There are no ups and downs in this guild - everyone
is equal, and one another's friend. The guild master and official may
hold sway for official guild decisions, but, in the end, such people
are expected to mirror the intentions of the guild as a whole. Just
remember to have fun, and enjoy being in the guild!
